We are writing to your newspaper and its readership to congratulate Vadim Kuznetsov MD, the staff at the Tyumen Cardiology Center , and the people of Tyumen for the success of the XV World Congress of The International Cardiac Doppler Society which was held in Tyumen and featured in your newspaper. The staff of the Tyumen Cardiology Center organized an extensive scientific program and provided gracious hospitality for all of the visitors.

The Congress was attended by cardiologists from around the world for the exchange of medical information and personal good will. The scientific content of the meeting was of very high quality, and provided many of us with new insights. The facilities for the Congress were contemporary and world class. The staff of the Congress venue were attentive and provided for flawless sessions.

We found Tyumen to be most interesting, with friendly people, and great opportunities for walking and sightseeing. And, the warm sunny weather was quite welcome.

Also impressive was the extensive volunteer contribution of the students from the Tyumen University language program. They provided exceptional personal effort to the meeting in general and to the foreign visitors in particular. Their command of English was superior, and their enthusiasm un-matched. We have been to many international congresses, but have never experienced the type of volunteer spirit that the students brought. Tyumen should be very proud of their contributions, spirit and goodwill!

In recent years Tyumen has become a place of holding international conferences on cardiovascular ultrasound. And this is not occasional, since Siberian land has always been famous for its generous hospitality. A person who has visited it once will definitely be eager to come back one day. XV World Congress of the International Cardiac Doppler Society that took place on May 24-26, 2006 was a significant event not only for Tyumen but for the whole Russia. Holding the Congress in Tyumen Cardiology Center proved recognition of the Center headed by Professor Vadim A. Kuznetsov and its achievements by the leading scientists of the world. Outstanding specialists in the sphere of cardiovascular ultrasound from more than 30 countries took part in the Congress, including such world-known cardiologists as Navin C. Nanda (USA), Leon J. Frazin (USA), Natesa Pandian (USA), Colette Veyrat (France) and many others.
The lectures presented were extremely interesting and contained generalization of modern data concerning echocardiography usefulness, clinical application of new technologies including contrast and real-time three-dimensional echocardiography.
The main aim of the Congress – teaching doctors, introducing new technologies and methods of treatment of cardiovascular diseases, information interchange, and establishing personal and scientific contacts – was successfully gained.
